Northern Argentina Tour

Arrive in Buenos Aires

Day 1

Start your South American tour in Buenos Aires, nicknamed the “Paris of South America.”  Upon arrival at the airport, your driver will take you to downtown Buenos Aires.
Start your city tour at the hallmark symbol of Buenos Aires, the Obelisk, The Obelisk stands in the heart of the widest street in the world: 9 de Julio Avenue. Pass by the astonishing Colon Opera Theater and the Embassy of France. Visit the historical Plaza de Mayo (the main square), the elegant Plaza San Martin, and the financial district.  Explore Buenos Aires's traditional neighborhoods: La Boca, San Telmo, Montserrat, Recoleta and Palermo. Finally, stop in Puerto Madero, the city's renovate port and waterfront, featuring the Woman’s Bridge, which is a modern building that resembles the image of a couple dancing tango.

Day 2

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and get ready to travel almost 30 km (12 mi) towards the northeast side of the Buenos Aires. From there, take a boat across the Tigre Delta, a verdant area surrounded by nature and learn about the “isleño” people living on the islands.  On this special tour you will learn about their customs and daily routines.  Look for the ‘barco almacén,’ a boat that doubles as a fish market.
After your tour, head back to Buenos Aires and explore the northern area of the city, which is famous for its impressive residential houses.
In the evening, go to a Tango Dinner show.  Enjoy some world-famous Argentine wine while eating a delicious local dish.

Day 3

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and take a domestic flight to Puerto Iguazú, one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.  Take in the first views of the forest and Iguassu Falls from your airplane.
Upon arrival at the airport, meet your guide, who will take you to the hotel.
Spend a day on the Brazilian side of the falls and walk through a catwalk located over the water, to get a closer look of this impressive spectacle of nature.

Day 4

After breakfast, go on a full-day tour of Iguazu National Park.
The Argentinean side is known for showing the strength of the waterfalls: the ‘Garganta del Diablo,’ also known as the Devil’s Throat. Ride across the Iguazu River on the ‘Gran Aventura’ boat, where you will get even closer to the falls and experience its splendor.

Puerto Iguazú - Salta

Day 5

Take a domestic flight to Salta City, located in the Northwest region of Argentina.
Upon arrival at the downtown area, you will explore Salta and its surroundings on a 3-hour city tour. Climb the San Bernardo Hill for a panoramic view of Salta.   Spend the evening at ‘Plaza 9 de Julio,’ the main square and see the main Cathedral, the Church of Saint Francis, the Town Hall, and Historic Museum of the North.
Learn about the Native American culture at the artisan market, which displays bijouterie, souvenirs, and handicrafts with the symbols of the ancestral Andean civilizations.
Check into your hotel in Salta and spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 6

Travel 189 km (117 mi) south to Cafayate, a town located in the Calchaqui Valley that is famous for its vineyards. Enjoy the scenic drive through small villages where you will see impressive sand formations carved onto the mountainsides.
As you approach Cafayate, notice how the arid desert turns into a lush, verdant vineyard area. Visit a winery and try some of the delectable local wine.
Return to Salta in the late afternoon.

Humahuaca & Hill of Seven Colors

Day 7

On today’s excursion, travel north to the Jujuy Province until you reach the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a ravine and mountain valley where the picture-perfect Hill of Seven Colors is located.
Visit Purmamarca, known as ‘the red heart of the quebrada,’ situated directly at the foot of the Hill of Seven Colors. The alluring hill and the tranquil town will leave you with an inner peace.  Follow the course of the Grande River, head to Tilcara, a nearby town that features a pre-Hispanic fortress: the Pucará, built by Indigenous people centuries ago.
Return to your hotel in Salta.

Salta - Mendoza

Day 8

Have breakfast at your hotel and transfer to the Salta airport for your flight to Mendoza, the Wine Capital of Argentina.Your guide will pick you up from the Mendoza airport and take you on a half-day city tour to explore this beautiful city surrounded by valleys and mountains. Visit Mendoza’s landmarks and learn all about the history of Mendoza, from its origins as a barren desert, to the Spanish colonization to the irrigation of the area utilizing the Mendoza River.  Learn about Mendoza’s modernization and its viticulture.
Check in at your hotel in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 9

After breakfast, admire the beauty of the colorful valleys and the mighty Andes Mountain Chain on a tour to visit some of the most important wine cellars in Mendoza! Afterwards, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.
