Day 2

Today's full-day excursion shows you the Iguazu Falls from the Argentine side, which includes the most viewpoints and walking trails. First, cross into Argentina for a walk above the falls, wider and more powerful than Niagara. Take the "Gran Aventura" boat ride to get up close to the falls and engulfed in the mist. There are also hiking trails surrounding the park; take some time to explore. Keep a lookout for butterflies, caiman, birds, and other wildlife as you roam the national park. Return to your hotel in the evening and rest.

Day 3

After breakfast, head back to the Iguazu Falls, this time on the Brazilian side, to see the falls from a different angle. On this side, there are walkways leading out over the water, giving you amazing views of the powerfall waterfalls.

Then set out on a journey through the Serra do Mar mountains in Brazil's southern Atlantic Rainforest. Rolling green hills, farms, and Araucária forests decorate the landscape. Arrive in Curitiba, named "best-organized city in South America," and check in to your hotel. Tonight's included dinner will give you a taste of the region's mix of cultures.

Day 4

This morning, relax in your hotel and have breakfast, and then embark on a full-day excursion on a scenic train ride to the coast. This historic railway journey will take you through lush green Atlantic rainforest scenery, as it winds its way from Curitiba to the Port of Antonina. The route passes the rolling hills of Serra do Mar and goes from sea level up to 1200 meters (3/4 of a mile) high! Enjoy walking around the historic port city of Antonina, have lunch, and the transfer back through hills to Curitiba, and spend the night.

Day 5

Arrive in the cidade maravilhosa, Rio de Janeiro, and check into your hotel on Copacabana Beach. The afternoon is free for a stroll, some shopping or relaxing on the beach. Enjoy a welcome drink and rodizio barbecue lunch or dinner (depending on your time of arrival).

The panoramic view from the top of the Sugar Loaf Mountain is the highlight of today's sightseeing tour. Board a funicular to reach the summit with its 360 degree spectrum of golden beaches, green forests and a thriving metropolis that has earned Rio de Janeiro the title of the world's most beautiful city.

Corcovado & Christ the Redeemer - Plus Rio New Year's!

Day 6

Spend the day breathing in the tropical breezes from the summit of Corcovado Mountain. Board the tremzinho cogwheel railway up to the top of Corcovado Mountain for a bird's eye view of Rio de Janeiro. Corcovado is where you'll find the Christ the Redeemer statue, overlooking Guanabara Bay.

In the evening, prepare for the world's biggest New Year's celebration on the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana. Festivities begin with traditional African celebrations dedicated to YemanjΓ‘, the African goddess of the seas. Don some white clothing and head to the water to see cariocas displaying their Afro-Brazilian heritage.

Then get ready to party, with music concerts, food, drinks, and dancing on the streets near Ipanema and Copacabana. Ring in the new year with fireworks lighting up the night sky.

New Year's Day in Rio de Janeiro

Day 7

Spend the first day of the new year relaxing and enjoying the beaches of Rio de Janeiro at your leisure. After breakfast at the hotel, you have the rest of the day free. You might want to go on a schooner cruise of Guanabara Bay, or to a fisherman's village nearby. Or you might enjoy an excursion to Petropolis, the summer palace of Dom Pedro, or to the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Gardens. The choices are yours!

For dinner, we recommend the Plataforma Samba Dinner Show, where you can enjoy a full Brazilian meal along with a mixture of Brazilian dances and music.

Depart Rio de Janeiro

Day 8

Have breakfast at the hotel and enjoy a final morning in Rio de Janeiro. Once you've packed your bags, your driver will escort you to the Rio de Janeiro airport for your journey home or to your next destination.

If you'd like to extend your trip to see more of Brazil, we recommend adding a 3-day trip to Salvador in Bahia, to experience the rich Afro-Brazilian culture of Brazil's original capital. Or venture into the Amazon Rainforest for a 3-day river cruise.
