Day 1, Sunday: The diverse face of Brazil is no where more prevalent than in Brazil's first capital, Salvador. The present capital of Bahia is a mix of rich colonial houses, picturesque churches and a lively mix of African and Indio rhythms. At the airport, your SouthAmerica.travel Tour Director or representative is waiting beyond customs to transfer you to your hotel Golden Tulip Rio Vermelho **** overlooking the bay. The afternoon is free for exploring on your own or relaxing at the beach or pool. Enjoy dinner tonight spiced by the local culture.
Day 2, Monday: After a hearty Brazilian breakfast, depart for a lively tour of Salvador. Visit the Pelourinho, the recently restored historical center of Salvador, which the UNESCO declared a World Heritage Cultural Site. This evening, opt for a Bahia by Night excursion including dinner and show.
Day 3, Tuesday: Continue your explorations of the city, or opt to visit Praia do Forte, known as the "Brazilian Polynesia", including a visit to the Turtle Station Tamar and lunch.
It has so many leisure options that it is hard to know where to start. There are 12 kilometers of beaches surrounded by dunes, coconut groves and tidal pools. Among the attractions there are: Garcia D'vila Castle Historic District, Sapiranga reserve, Pojuca river rapids and a fishermen village that welcomes the tourists with open arms. Besides all that, Praia do Forte also offers an excellent infrastructure.
An old fishermans village originated what today is known as Praia do Forte Village, where the rustic meets the sophisticated. A few streets, from the coconut plantation to the village which has several natural attractions and where preservation is a strong characteristic of the place.
Day 4, Wednesday: Depart this morning for a journey inland to the historic diamond mining village of Lençois. Early settlers strung sheets (Lençois in Portuguese) from tree to tree to protect themselves from the elements, thus giving the town its name. Check in the Hotel Canto das Aguas. A short hike with your guide brings you to a natural waterslide, where you can test your courage with the local youth! Your guide takes you on a walk through the old town before heading for dinner.
Day 5, Thursday: Today, take a full-day excursion to Mucugezinho, a beautiful ecological sanctuary with some waterfalls and natural swimming pools surrounded by exuberant Flora. Continue to Poço do Diabo (Devil's Well), a big black lagoon. Next, explore the Cave Lapa Doce (a 1 km-long (½ mile) beautiful rock formation), the Cave Partinha, an amazing flooded cave, and Lake Paratinha, with crystal clear waters, with an opportunity for bathing, relaxing and lunch (included). As the day winds down, hike up the Morro Pai Inácio, a beautiful tabletop mountain, where you will appreciate a wide variety of wild orchids and other exotic plants. From the top, experience the magnificent setting sun over the panoramic view of mountains and canyons. Return to Lençois for dinner (included).
Day 6, Friday: Early breakfast and departure for another full day tour to explore the diamond mining ghost town Igatu. Continue to Poco Encantado, a mountain cave with a spectacular lake of crystal clear water, 60m (200ft) deep. From April to August, a shaft of sunlight penetrates the cave through the mountainside, with the waters reacting like a prism, dispersing the colors in a rainbow spectrum. Lunch at Poco Encantado and dinner in Lençois are included.
Day 7, Saturday: Return to the Bahian coast this morning to the four-star Catussaba Resort. Relax on your balcony, at the pool or at what's considered one of Brazil's most beautiful beaches. Enjoy dinner tonight with a view of the beach.
Day 8, Sunday: The airport is only 10 minutes away for your tour continuation or return home, or opt to extend your stay for up to 4 more nights!
Optional Extension: Praia do Forte beach(4days / 3 nights)Got a small group? Get even BIGGER discounts!
