3-Night Itinerary

Tour the fascinating Ecuadorian Amazon on a 3-night tour through the Napo River, entering remote areas home to intriguing native animals, and visiting interpretation centers where Kichw descendants eager to transmit their knowledge of the rainforest with visitors.

    Arrival in the Ecuadorian Amazon

    Day 1 / Sunday

    Your journey begins in Coca, just a 30-minute flight from Quito, the Ecuadorian capital. Meet a representative of Anakonda at the Francisco de Orellana airport who will transfer you to the dock to board on a motorized canoe. Navigate for about one hour down Napo River, admiring the breathtaking landscape and feeling the energy of the Amazon, declared one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
    Board M/V Anakonda Amazon Cruise, a luxurious vessel counting with spacious social areas and an astonishing observation deck ideal for taking in the rainforest and its endemic flora and fauna.
    In the evening, take a walk to discover the movement of the nocturnal creatures, such as caiman alligators and night owls.

    Pañayacu River Delta

    Day 2 / Monday

    Sail down to the Pañayacu River Delta, where you will board a canoe to explore its biodiversity. Thee animals you can find include charismatic pink river dolphins, and adorable squirrel monkeys. Then, head to Pañacocha, a flooded forest where the fierce piranhas, carnivorous Amazonian fish, can be found. This area is also home to water monkey fish, locally known as arawana, and white caimans. Those who are feeling brave can take a swim in this lake.
    Later, go to a nearby camping site to have a delicious Amazon-style BBQ. In the afternoon, do some exploration outdoor looking for monkeys and birds before returning to the vessel for dinner.

    Parrot Clay Lick & Meeting with Locals

    Day 3 / Tuesday

    After breakfast, get ready to witness one of the most spectacular phenomenons in this side of the Amazon, a parrot lick. Here, hundreds of colorful parrots and parakeets get together every day to lick the minerals found on the pools of mud. Some theories state that these minerals help the birds to neutralize the effects of poisonous fruits.
    Afterwards, take a cultural tour to learn about the local community at the Sani Warmi Kichwa Interpretation Center. You will be welcomed by a group of women willing to share their ancestral customs, their handicraft and their history with you.
    Have lunch and visit the Yakawsay Kichwa Interpretation Center to get more immerse in the lifestyle of the communities that live by the Napo River.
    In the evening, take a walk to spot different animals that can only be seen during nighttime, and listen to the soothing sounds of the rainforest.

    Return to Coca

    Day 4 / Wednesday

    Today, admire the Amazonian landscape one last time before making your way back to the town of Coca. Upon arrival, transfer to the airport to board a flight to Quito.

    Arrival in Coca

    Day 1 / Wednesday

    Transfer from Francisco de Orellana airport in Coca to the dock to sail down Napo River until arriving at the M/V Anakonda Amazon Cruise, your home for the next 5 days. This magnificent vessel counts with a wide observation deck, where you can appreciate the landscapes of the Amazon at different times of the day.
    Your first tour takes places in the evening, when your guide will take you for a walk to explore the alluring rainforest during nighttime, with chances of spotting caimans, owls. Gaze at the stars and see the beautiful Southern hemisphere constellations from a clear sky, away from the contamination of the cities.

    Yasuní National Park

    Day 2 / Thursday

    This morning, disembark M/V Anakonda to take a walk that will give you an insight into the characteristics of this unique ecosystem, where an estimated of 8 out of 10 species known by man can be found.
    After lunch, arrive in Yasuní, where you will take a canoe-ride. Shared by Peru and Ecuador, this national park is home to exotic animals such as pink river dolphins, black caimans, river turtles, and even the world-famous anacondas, the largest snakes in the world. Another of the highlights its the hoatzin, locally known as 'stinky turkey,' an animal crucial to understand the evolution of birds due to its distinctive feature: the claws located on its wings, used to defend itself from predators.

    Local School & Island Exploration

    Day 3 / Friday

    After breakfast, head to the banks of the river to visit a local school, where you will have the chance to interact with the children and learn about the life and the school system in this remote area.
    Board the cruise again to continue navigating upstream. In the meantime, enjoy a lecture and a documentary to get more information about the astonishing nature that surrounds you. There are also chances of learning how to make your own handicraft, using the techniques and elements of the Amazonian people.
    Take a tour to spot different creatures that inhabit the hidden islands in Napo River.

    Observation Tower & Limoncocha

    Day 4 / Saturday

    This morning you will get a privileged view of the Ecuadorian Amazon from an observation tower. Its 100-feet location built on a giant kapok tree will allow you to get the perspective monkeys and birds have of this region, taking in evergreen forests, and listening to the sounds of the nature.
    In the afternoon, visit Limoncocha Biological Reserve, a fascinating protected area where more than 478 bird species and several monkey species have been recorded. This activity will extend into the evening, when you have a chance to spot black caiman with the help of your flashlights. Return to the M/V Anakonda for dinner.

    Day 5 / Sunday

    Fill your lungs with pure Amazonian air before returning to Coca, where a representative will take you to Francisco de Orellana airport to fly back to the Ecuadorian capital.
