The capital of Ecuador, Quito is a bustling city near the Avenue of the Volcanoes. Throughout the city, you'll find well-preserved colonial architecture, and several churches. Take a city tour of Quito to see many churches, the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the House of Congress, and a lookout point where you can see the city and the volcanoes just beyond. Next visit the Middle of the World, the Equatorial Line Monument, to see where scientists first located the exact location of the Equator in the 18th century. Later, visit the nearby city of Otavalo, where one of South America's most famous indigenous markets is held.
The famous researcher Charles Darwin once called the Galapagos Islands a "living labratory," where nature displays biodiversity in abundance. On a Galapagos Islands Cruise, you can go snorkeling, swimming, and hiking - while seeing Darwin's Finches, Frigate Birds, Sally Lightfoot Crabs, Giant Tortoises, and more wildlife.
