I was due to attend a medical congress in Buenos Aires and we had recently hosted a Brazilian exchange student who was eager that we visit her in Sao Paulo. We knew we had to go to Sao Paulo and we knew we wanted to see Rio de Janeiro, but as naturalists, we also wanted to see the Iguazu Falls and we had an idea of seeing some of the Amazon. We did not realise just what a huge country Brazil is and we also did not realise that air travel there is not as easy as in other parts of the world. I was "surfing the internet" seeking information about Brazil and Argentina and came across SouthAmerica.travel and posted an enquiry. Within minutes I received a phone call from a woman with a Australian accent who listened to my requirements and within a few days, in conjunction with my wife, had come up with an itinerary that included Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, a few wonderful days in the Pantanal, a few days at Foz Iguacu and transfer to Buenos Aires and return flights to Cape Town. We only had one mishap when our guide to the falls on one day failed to arrive and we eventually paid a taxi driver to take us to the Argentinian side. Otherwise our flights, accommodation and transfers were seamless and comfortable. It was a really excellent trip!
