Travelers from New Zealand, South Africa, and many other Latin American countriesΒ DO NOT REQUIRE A VISAΒ to enter Colombia. However, it is still very important you check with your local consulate or embassy for the most up-to-date visa & passport requirements.
Passport Requirements
Citizens ofΒ ALLΒ countries: To enter Colombia, your passportΒ mustΒ be valid for a minimum of 6 months after your travel dates. For example, if you are traveling to Colombia in March, your passport must be valid through September of that year.
We strongly recommend making copies of your passport. Keep your original passport locked away in the safe of your hotel and carry a photocopy of your passport with you during your travels. You might also consider purchasing a passport holder to keep all your documents safe.
Visa Requirements
Citizens of the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and most of EuropeΒ DO NOT REQUIREΒ a tourist visa for travel to Colombia unless they are planning to say longer than 90 days.
US citizens will receive a visa upon arrival in Colombia, valid for 60 days. US citizens can apply for a visa extension of up to 1 year.
UK residents can extend their visa for up to 90 days at DAS offices for approximately $25.
Visa Fees
US Citizens will receive aΒ FREEΒ visa upon arrival in Colombia.
Canadians do not need a visa but willΒ be charged a COP 160,000 reciprocity fee (about $72)Β upon arrival at the airport or land border crossing. It can be paid in cash in Colombian pesos or with an international debit or credit card. The fee is waived for travelers under 14 or over 79.

Processing Time for Visas
Visa processing usuallyΒ takes five to eight working days.
It depends on whether or not the application is referred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
