I just returned home from a perfectly planned trip, through five countries in South America (Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina, and Brasil). The name of the company that I booked the trip through is SouthAmerica.travel. I have traveled extensively, but have never had such excellent service from a travel agency! If you are planning a trip to anywhere in South America, SouthAmerica.travel is the company you should definitely book it through! I first contacted this company in early April 2018. My travel window was narrow, and my hopes were high. I wanted to see as many countries as I could, as quickly as possible. I had to be back home by early May, so my timeline was very tight. Immediately (within one hour of contacting this company), I received a call (early on a Sunday morning) from a very kind, friendly, and knowledgeable travel specialist. Her name is Millie Davies. Millie has been awesome to work with! After chatting for maybe 45 minutes, we had come up with a great travel plan - to all the destinations I wanted to visit. Within 48 hours, Millie had confirmed a complete itinerary for me: air travel, hotels, and tour packages. The general itinerary started from a suggested list of destinations from this company's website but was completely customized to fit my individual needs. I explained to Millie that I am a budget-conscious traveler, who could probably live with 3-star hotels. But then I added that I would love to upgrade if the price was right. Instead of a cookie cutter approach (all 3-star hotels, all 5-star hotels, etc), Millie arranged for a custom mixture of hotel classes. The outcome was perfect! I was not overcharged, yet I was treated very well at every stop along the way. I had absolutely NO problems for the entire trip. Along every step of the way, all of the details were taken care of by this top-notch company. The tours were amazing. I was not put into giant, impersonal tour groups (as many companies do). Instead, I had private tours that averaged only 2 to 4 persons per tour. The guides were all very friendly and polite. What impressed me more than anything else was how each guide would walk me into the airport, as I left for a new city or country. I was expected to be dropped at the curb and left to fend for myself. Not with this company. Each time, the guide would direct me to the airline counter, stand in line with me to get my luggage checked and boarding pass issued, then walk with me to the security checkpoint. (If I were traveling in my home country (the U.S.), such service would not be needed. But I found it to be very helpful when traveling through countries where there is a language barrier.) But the detail that blew me away the most is this: Millie noticed that my birthday was during the trip. On that day, I checked into my hotel room and found a cake and bottle of wine! Well done, Millie! Bravo, SouthAmerica.travel! You have demonstrated exactly what it takes to be a 5-star company (at 3-star prices).
