Colombia is an excellent travel destination year-round. The best time to visit Colombia is from December to March (which is the driest season). It's during this time that the weather consists of warm breezes off the Caribbean coast, making the cultural events especially enjoyable. With the sunshine, travelers can hike in rural regions of Colombia and explore the country's colonial cities with ease. However persistent heavy rains is unlikely in most regions at any time of year with temperatures staying mostly constant, generally below 68 degrees Fahrenheit.
It's also helpful to base your travel to Colombia on the altitude of the destination. The weather tends to change based on region and elevation; so keep in mind that while certain seasons are preferable, the weather can vary depending on where you are in Colombia. For example, the weather in Bogota tends to change a lot during the day due to high altitude (8,660 feet).
West of Bogota, the coffee triangle in Colombia consists of three cities: Pereira, Armenia, and Manizales. This internationally recognized area in Colombia covers approximately 1.2% of the nation’s territory. One of the best areas of the coffee region in Colombia is the Cocora Valley. Think green rolling hills sprinkled with some of the world’s tallest palm trees. Embark on a hike or a horseback ride here and gain great photo opportunities with views of verdant mountains and local wildlife. Visit the National Coffee Park, located in the Quindio area for a visit to an interactive museum, a cable car ride, and ecological trail hiking opportunities. With so much to see and do, the coffee region in Colombia is a place that people write home about. There is a lot of coffee farms you can visit to taste coffee and see how the coffee production process looks like.
