As one of two landlocked countries in South America, Paraguay is a small but fascinating country that welcomes those who want to explore the lesser-traveled destination of South America.
As Paraguay shares a border with Brazil and Argentina near the Iguazu Waterfalls, many people will visit Paraguay to see the "3 Borders Monument." But to explore Paraguay further, you can visit the Jesuit ruins of Trinidad, which were built and abandoned hundreds of years ago. Or you can take a river boat cruise down the river through the Chaco and the Pantanal, which is a massive wetland along the border of Paraguay and Brazil.
Paraguay is a small sometimes forgotten country that is now considered one of South America's greatest charms. From the bustling atmosphere of the city's capital to the exclusive sandy beaches, you are sure to get a taste of everything when visiting this country. Start your Paraguay Tour in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. Here you will be able to brush up on your history with visits to Casa de la Independencia, Palacio de Gobierno, and Panteón Nacional de Los Héroes. Visit one of Paraguay's most famous eatery, Lido Bar, for some scrumptious empanadas. At night, Asunción's contemporary scene won't let you down. Here, you will find that there is a bar for everyone. Check out Britannia Pub for their extensive beer selection, Casa Clari for a laid-back cocktail lounge, or Pirata bar for some live music.
If Asunción wasn't enough history for you, check out the Jesuit Missions of La Santisima Trinidad de Parana. The Jesuit Missions are the remaining treasures of small colonies that were established by Jesuit missionaries in the 17th century. Walking through the ruins allows you to visualize first-handily how the Jesuit's accomplished building small communities.
From the Jesuit Missions, you can easily combine a tour to Argentina and Brazil through Iguazu Falls. If you are interested in visiting Paraguay, the up and coming destination in South America, don't hesitate to contact our expert travel consultants today!
