Patagonia Travel FAQ's
Patagonia is famous for its jaw-dropping landscape. From the Lake Region in the North to the glaciers (Perito Moreno Glacier), charming towns (El Calafate and El Chalten), and vast national parks (Torres del Paine National Park and Los Glaciares National Park), Patagonia has everything you need to disconnect with the tech-filled world, and reconnect with nature.
Patagonia is also famous for its rare wildlife; many tourists travel to Patagonia to spot a puma grazing the one-of-a-kind terrain.
Patagonia is vast and unpredictable. It’s essential to consider the weather in Patagonia before arranging concrete travel plans. We recommend visiting Patagonia in March and April, which is shoulder season and also the equivalent of the Indian summer. Make sure to book Patagonia early, especially if you plan to travel around Easter. There are not that many hotels and lodges, especially in Torres del Paine National Park
For a stress-free trip to Patagonia, book Torres del Paine at least 9 - 12 months in advance. For El Calafate, Bariloche, and Punta Arenas make sure to book 6 - 9 months in advance.
It is best to hire a private car with a driver through a tour operator like SouthAmerica.travel. Private transfers are reliable, comfortable, and safe. In contrast, for an economical approach, group tours and transfers are available in some cases.
When traveling between southern and northern Patagonia, it is best to fly! Some people feel attracted by driving the unpaved Highway 40 along the Andes mountains, but flying saves time on transportation and allows more time to ultimately explore Patagonia.
