Cave of the Hands near Perito Moreno
The Cueva de las Manos (Cave of the Hands) in Patagonia is one of the best works of pre-historic cave paintings, dating several thousands of years ago. On a trip to Patagonia, travel to the Pinturas Valley where the incredible cave paintings belonging to the Teheulches people are on full display.
The creation process of the handprints, which are painted in bright hues of red, black, white, and yellow, is very interesting. An experienced local guide will explain how the Teheulches people pressed down one hand against the rock and blew the coloring agent through a blowpipe, which then left the vibrant outline of a hand. Paintings of hunting scenes and guanacos are also found here.
For a complete tour of Patagonia, consider adding one of the best hikes in Patagonia to a trip to Cueva de las Manos.
