The San Ignacio Mini Jesuit ruins is a Jesuit mission constructed in the Guarani baroque style in what is now northern Argentina, very close to the Iguazu Falls. Built in 1696 using the local red sandstone, the great walls of San Ignacio Mini are six feet thick. This sturdy construction has preserved the mission for hundreds of years, and it is now recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Explore the Jesuit Missions in combination with our Iguazu Falls tours. We recommend spending a couple nights in the Iguazu Falls area, in order to see the falls from both the Brazil and the Argentine sides, and then touring the Jesuit Missions in the outlying areas. When you're exploring the San Ignacio Mini ruins, make sure to watch the excellent movie "The Mission," which stars Robert De Niro and tells the story of the Jesuits and their relationship with the Guarani tribes in the Iguazu Falls area.

Some of the memorable moments we had were visiting the many vineyards, horseback riding, and watching the sunrise on the Andes Mountains.
