Arrival in Rio de Janeiro & City Tour

Day 1

Your adventure begins in Rio de Janeiro, also known as "The Marvelous City." A local guide will welcome you to the city and escort you to your hotel. In the afternoon get ready for your city tour! Your first stop is Sugarloaf Mountain, the iconic 396-meter (1299 feet) high peak sitting in Rio's Guanabara Bay. Take the cable car up Sugarloaf Mountains for a 360-degree view of Rio de Janeiro. Snap some photos and ask your guide why they named this peak Sugarloaf Mountain. In the early evening, make your way to Copacabana beach, where you can relax and watch the sunset over the bay.

Day 2

Today you will have more time to explore the sites you didn't get to see yesterday. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and meet your local guide for another incredible city tour! First stop is Corcovado Mountain, to see the iconic 30 meter (98 feet) high Christ the Redeemer statue overlooking the city. Take in the spectacular 360-degree views of the city below, along with the lush Tijuca Forest National Park. This statue has become a cultural icon for both Rio de Janeiro and is now one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Return to your hotel in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Transfer to Petropolis

Day 3

Today, you will transfer from Rio de Janeiro to Petropolis. Upon arrival, your local guide will take you on a city tour of Petropolis to visit the historical locations, including, Crystal Palace, inspired by the Crystal Palace in London and the Cidade do Porto in Portugal. You may also visit the fascinating Imperial Museum, commonly known as Palacio Imperial, once the summer vacation home for Brazilian emperor Dom Pedro II, and the "Casa Santos Dumont." It was also known as the summer residence of the famous Brazilian inventor Santos Dumont.
After visiting some of the historical sites, return to the charming Pousada Tankanama where you will stay overnight.

Day 4

Get ready for your fair share of caffeine! Today, you will travel to the Rio das Flores region, home to some of the most popular coffee farms in Brazil. Choose from an abundance of coffee farms to visit and learn how they produce their delicious coffee beans. Find your favorite espresso as you travel to São Luiz da Boa Sorte, Paraizo, and União farms. Stay overnight at the beautiful Hotel Fazenda União and spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Coffee Farm Visits

Day 5

Wake up early to explore Valença, a small agricultural town in the heart of the Brazilian coffee region. Later, explore the city of Vassouras renowned for its colonial-era coffee farms. Visit the Museu Casa da Hera which exhibits some incredible artwork depicting the wealthy upper-class lifestyle during the peak of the coffee industry in the 19th century. In the evening, transfer to Fazenda Aliança to spend the night.

Transfer to Paraty

Day 6

Today you will transfer from São João da Boa Vista to Paraty, a quaint colonial town near Rio de Janeiro. Go on a Schooner cruise through the port of Paraty past remote islands and beautiful beaches, truly a travelers paradise. Relax and marvel at the lush surrounding areas of green foliage and mountains reflecting in the clear water. After your tour, you may want to explore the Serra do Mar Mountains. With natural preserves at every turn and the state park in sight, every moment will be opportune for beautiful photos. In the evening, stay at a charming pousada.

GraΓΊa Eco Agricultural Visit

Day 7

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before leaving for your full day Sustainable Agroforest Tour. Today you will visit the Graúa community near Paraty, where you will meet the Agronomist Engineer running this farm that specializes in "PANCS" (Non-Conventional Edible Plants). While here you can go on a short hike through the agroforest region, visit the organic garden, bamboo plantation and "jucara" palmetto plant locations. Learn about the sustainable alternatives they use on the farm and flora and fauna of the Serra da Bocaina National Park.
In the evening return to Paraty for your final night in this beautiful colonial town.

Day 8

Enjoy your last morning in the paradise of Paraty before you head to the airport. Catch a flight to your next destination in South America destination or journey home.
