Places to Visit in Argentina
There is a multitude of places to visit in Argentina as it is the second-largest country in South America. In every direction, there’s a region that shouldn’t be missed by travelers. In northern Argentina, experience the mountainous area of Salta where Spanish colonial architecture and Andean heritage thrives. To the east on the border with Brazil, the Iguazu Falls are one of Argentina’s top places to visit. The mighty Iguazu River tumbles over the Devil’s Throat where you can get extremely close to the falls on a series of walkways.
Moving south, Buenos Aires stands out as one of the top destinations to visit on any of our Argentina vacation packages. Not only is Buenos Aires the perfect start or endpoint logistically to a tour of Argentina, but the city also boasts European-inspired architecture, delicious food, world-class museums, and passionate tango dancing. As you move further south, explorers enter Bariloche, the gateway to the incredibly raw and natural region of Patagonia. In Argentine Patagonia, visit the famous Perito Moreno Glacier, Monte Fitz Roy, and enjoy sightings of free-roaming wildlife. One can also cross the border to Chilean Patagonia to continue exploring Patagonia with Torres del Paine National Park. All of these Argentina vacation spots can be combined into one fully-custom Argentina tour package.
Buenos Aires Tours
Buenos Aires is the perfect destination to begin any of our Argentina trips, as the capital rests on the southwestern shore of the Rio de la Plata, where plenty of activities are offered. Explore the city’s European-influenced architecture that gives its nickname, the “Paris of South America.” Stroll around the city’s neighborhoods San Telmo and Puerto Madero, and of course, dance the tango at one of the trendy, local clubs. Our Argentina travel packages can be altered to combine Buenos Aires tours as well as other activities and destinations you are looking for, including heading down south to Argentine Patagonia.
Iguazu Falls
For some of the best sightseeing in Argentina, make sure to customize any of our Argentina tours packages to include a trip to Iguazu Falls. On the border of Argentina and Brazil is Iguazu Falls, one of the most visited destinations in the lush subtropical rainforest of Iguazu National Park. Iguazu Falls is one of the most visited destinations on a trip to Argentina and/or Brazil. If you have some extra time and love history, add on a day trip to see the San Ignacio Jesuit ruins.
Salta
We recommend adding Salta to any of our Argentina luxury tours. Just one hour’s flight due west is Salta, which is the departure point for the Train to the Clouds, as well as the wine-growing region for Torrontes, a white wine unique to Argentina. Between the two points, don’t miss Cordoba, home to the oldest university and cathedral of Argentina and the center of the Jesuit missions.
Puerto Madryn & Peninsula Valdes
Take an Argentina guided tour to Puerto Madryn and Valdes Peninsula, the place for spectacular whale watching. Bariloche, the gateway to Patagonia, enjoys excellent summer and winter sports and is the Argentine side of South America’s lake district. Travel south from there to El Calafate to see the glaciers and Ushuaia, the southernmost city of the planet, for the Train to the End of the World. Ushuaia is also the launching point for an Argentina cruise to Antarctica and over to Chilean Patagonia and the Torres del Paine National Park.
