My wife and I went to a congress in Argentina and wanted to explore the country a little bit, once we are there. Because we do not speak Spanish, we decided to contact a travel agency. After interviewing a couple of agents by phone, we decided to go with South America Travel. The trip was very well organized. Clara Tort, the agent who helped us put together the program, did an excellent job. She recognized what our preferences were and was always promptly responsive and even let us made some last minute changes to the program. The tour went flawlessly. We had ample time exploring places ourselves and the organized day tours, sightseeing trips were excellent. We had mostly very good tour guides with good command of English. We were always greeted and picked up from and to airports, so we did not have to worry about Taxis. Our Spanish is minimal and most people in Argentina do not speak English. Therefore, we recommend this agency (and particularly Clara) to anybody who travels to Argentina and does not speak Spanish. You will find all kind of scary things on the internet but we found Argentina a very safe place to visit. Buenos Aires is a massive and beautiful city. We stayed in the downtown areas, including Recoleta and Palermo and always felt safe. Of course, you need to have common sense and stay in the good areas, as you would in any major city.
