This itinerary takes in several different regions and so the climate and seasons vary. Most of the trip can be done year round and most wildlife is present year round, however whales and penguins are usually only present as follows:

Whales in Puerto Piramides – June to December (best September and October)
Penguins in Punta Tombo – September to March (best October to March)
Penguins in Ushuaia – mid October to March

The Ibera Wetlands get very hot from January to March. In contrast, Patagonia gets cold from June to August. If you can travel at any time of year, mid October to December is a particularly good time for this trip.

Arrive into Buenos Aires, Ezeiza airport. Most flights from North America and Europe arrive in the morning. You’ll be met at the airport and rather than head into the bustle of Buenos Aires like most visitors, you’ll head the opposite direction into the countryside and the elegant Estancia Villa Maria about 50 minutes away. This is an ideal place to relax following a long flight and there are beautiful grounds which can be enjoyed.
