Highlights |
Prepare to be picked up early in the morning from either the airport or your hotel in Manaus. Then, begin the three-hour journey to the Juma Amazon Lodge. Along the way observe the “Meeting of the Waters,” where the muddy Solimões River meets the Rio Negro. On the speedboat, feel the difference in the air between the two clear rivers.
Upon arrival at the lodge, enjoy a welcome drink and an assortment of exotic fruits and get ready for a canoe trip through the waters of the igarapés (Amazonian creeks) and the igapós (flooded forest). After dinner, go on a guided night expedition to spot colorful frogs, birds and caiman.
Note: For those arriving in Manaus at a later time, Juma offers an afternoon pickup, but lunch and the canoe tour will not be offered. Guests arriving after 1:30 pm, will stay in a city hotel and will be picked up early in the morning the following day.
Wake up early for a hike to see the sunrise! Watch the sky colorfully transform and listen to the songs of the waking birds. Expert guides will have binoculars available for all guests that wish for a better view. In the afternoon, depart for a jungle hike. On this educational journey through the Amazon, you will learn about the various plants, wildlife, and the implications of overuse of the forest.
Later, tour the lodge, built entirely on stilts. With an underneath perspective, you will learn how sustainability plays an important role in the development of the lodge. In the evening, board a motorboat and learn how to catch fish native to the Amazon River, such as the infamous piranha. Dinner will consist of the fish you caught earlier.
Following dinner, listen to a lecture put on by one of the native guides. Learn about the everyday life in the Amazon and the history of the region.
Today, learn how to live like an Amazonian native! After breakfast, head outside for a jungle hike in search of various wildlife and bird species. Following the hike, enjoy a regional dish, and a relaxing moment, swaying in the hammocks. In the afternoon, visit a local home where you will learn about the fascinating culture of the Amazonian people. Learn about the use of traditional medicinal plants and the region’s main economic resources.
At night, return to the lodge for dinner and a quiet evening in your private bungalow.
Sadly, today you will say your goodbyes to the Juma Amazon Lodge. On the way back to Manaus, stop at the Pirarucu Floating Dock to see the giant Pirarucu fish. From the dock, you can marvel at the size and strength of the fish, and also help feed them.
After visiting, return to Manaus where you will head to the airport or your Manaus hotel.

You will be greeted with a welcome drink and exotic fruits as you enter the Juma Amazon Lodge. Following a lunch of both regional and international cuisine, embark on a canoe trip, paddling the waters of the igarapés (Amazonian creeks) and the igapós (flooded forest). Guests are encouraged to swim in the river’s majestic waters, with the possibility of meeting pink dolphins. Return to lodge for dinner. At night, join in on an expedition, where an expert guide will help you spot colorful frogs, birds, and most importantly the Caymans of the Amazon.

Today, live like a true Amazonian. After breakfast, depart for a jungle hike, followed by regional cuisine, and a moment of rest in hammocks as the locals do. Visit a native house in the afternoon and learn about their fascinating culture. Knowledge of traditional medicinal plants and how to prepare manioc flour, one of the region’s main economic resources, will be shared. At night, return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation in your cozy bungalow.
Visit a giant Sumaúma tree, approximately 300 years of age. You will be amazed at how large the Sumaúma is, as it is known as the Amazon’s largest tree species. It’s height and diameter reaches up to 40 meters (130 feet) long! In the afternoon, bring out your crafting skills as an expert guide will teach you the art of Amazonian craft making, utilizing the resources of babaçu leaves and other plants from the rainforest.
After dinner, embark on a jungle night walk. This is the best time of a day to listen to the sounds of the animals of the forest. The night time walk, with minimal light, creates a mysterious, yet wholly unique experience from any of the lodge’s day trips.
Sadly, today you will depart from the Juma Amazon Lodge. On the way back to Manaus, stop at the Pirarucu Floating Dock to see the giant Pirarucu fish. From the dock, you can help feed the fish. Return to Manaus where you will head to the airport or your Manaus hotel.
