Arrive in Belém and transfer to your chosen hotel. After checking in, get an introduction to the city at the Docks Station. Situated on the Bay of Guajará, enjoy the waterfront views and listen to your expert guides at an information session. Those staying close by can enjoy a stroll and get a sense of the area. As night falls, board a boat for an evening tour. Or opt for a night-time wander through the Belem Orla where locals can be found jiving to live music or folk dancing in the street.
Sample some local cuisine when the sun sets and head to one of the fantastic restaurants at Docks Station. Then relax and retire for the night after your first day in Belém.
This morning, head to Marajó Island, a paradise of golden beaches, diverse landscapes and an array of flora and fauna. Afterward, transfer to the docks for a boat ride to Camará village, a small beach town of Salvaterra. After disembarking, transfer to Pousada dos Guaras.
There’s also a chance to experience the unique Marajoara culture and cuisine. After lunch, visit the historic village of Joanes, the Jesuit Ruins and Great Joanes Beach, and squeeze in some shopping for local crafts. At the end of a busy day, return to the hotel to relax and reminisce about a lovely day of sightseeing.
Rise and shine and get ready for a horseback riding excursion. Enjoy a gentle canter in the region, pausing to take photos in Buffalo and stop for a tasty and filling lunch at Pousada dos Guaras. Afterward, select from a variety of experiences. Visit a ceramics and leather tannery center, local farms and the coastal mangroves. Then, return to your hotel as the stars begin to appear in the night sky and enjoy a show of folk dancing in the hotel restaurant.
*The folk dance performance is only held if there are groups of 10 or more people.
After the sun is up, meander along the Paracauari River that divides the cities of Soure and Salvaterra. If the tide is out, visit the stream of Guajará. Next, take a short visit to the center of Salvaterra. Feast on another delicious lunch at Pousada dos Guaras and take some time to enjoy the rest of this quaint city. After lunch, check out and return to Belém.
*Throughout the week, and on Sundays, boats will transfer tourists from Pousada dos Guaras to Belém at 3pm. Arrive in Belém around 6pm and then transfer to the hotel.
On the final day, take a city tour of Belém, the ciudade das mangueiras (City of Mango Trees). Visit the most significant landmarks including Nazareth Basilica Complex, Ver-o-Peso, Lusitania Complex as well as the Pole Jeweller. After sightseeing, transfer to the airport for the journey home.
