There are no fixed programs, leaving you the sole decider in how you’d like to spend your time. You can choose how you’d like to spend your time. If you’re interested in birds, you can embark on a guided trek through the forest. If you’re hoping to meditate, head to the natural waterfalls where this is plenty of room to contemplate your thoughts. If you want an amazing view of the forest, climb to the top of the Observation Tower. The Mashpi Lodge offers an abundance of various activities to choose from, making your experience in Ecuador’s cloud forest one that will last a lifetime. Itinerary
Day 1ARRIVAL AT MASHPI LODGE
After lunch, head out for an afternoon activity. Perhaps, you can explore the magical forest. Walk along the trails and spot orchids, lianas and bromeliads. Later, when the sun sets, head out for a night walk. At this hour, you can see a completely different perspective of the forest. One where frogs, snakes, insects and even tarantulas might make an appearance!
Day 2PANORAMIC TERRACE, HUMMINGBIRD GARDEN & OBSERVATION TOWER
After lunch, experience the cloud forest from a new perspective on the aerial Sky Bike and from the Observation Tower. The Observation Tower is an excellent place to watch the sunset behind the clouds.
In the evening, join in on a discussion of the prepared series of lectures. The lectures will be given by one of the naturalist guides or one of the resident biologists.
Day 3FREE DAY TO EXPLORE
Day 4 WATERFALL HIKE, DRAGONFLY CABLE CAR & DEPARTURE
Of course, you can always explore more forest trails or head to a different waterfall during your free time.
After a delicious lunch, our transport takes you back to Quito in the afternoon.

Day 1ARRIVAL AT MASHPI LODGE
After enjoying lunch, head out for your afternoon activity. This activity could include a hike through the forest followed by an amazing experience gliding above the treetops in the Dragonfly aerial cable car. When the sun sets, a new set of wildlife will emerge. Head outside for a night walk, accompanied by an experienced guide, and look for frogs, snakes, insects, and even tarantulas.
Day 2PANORAMIC TERRACE, SKY BIKE & OBSERVATION TOWER
In the afternoon, enjoy lunch and later pedal between two points of the forest on the aerial Sky Bike. Then, climb up the Observation Tower for amazing views of the Reserve in its entirety. This is the perfect spot to watch the sun melt over the trees of the cloud forest.
At night, listen in on a series of different lectures. Popular discussions are the “Secret Wildlife of Mashpi: the Camera Trap Project,” “The Choco: a Biological Hotspot” and more. These lectures should give you a bit of information on the diversity of the area, which you might have already noticed on your night walk and other activities in the forest.
Day 3WATERFALL HIKE & DEPARTURE
Return to the lodge for lunch and then a local transport will take you back to Quito in the afternoon.
