Staying Healthy in Guyana

Talk to your doctor or travel clinic well in advance of your trip to Guyana. They will be able to advise you on any vaccinations you need. You are likely to be advised to take anti-malarial medication for visits to most parts of Guyana and may be recommended Yellow Fever Vaccination.

To reduce the chances of getting Traveler’s Diarrhea, it is best to stick to bottled water during your trip and avoid ice except in where you can be sure it is made from bottled water.

Avoid getting bitten by mosquitos as much as you can, that means using insect repellent and long clothing.

The Center for Disease Control has some useful advice for travelers. https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list/
