Day 1

Meet one of the La Selva representatives at the Quito International Airport, in the National departure area. Here, they will assist you with the check-in process and give you a short briefing on the journey to La Selva Lodge. To begin your journey, board a commercial flight to Puerto Francisco de Orellana, where a representative will privately transfer you to the city?s main dock at the Napo River. Then, travel by motorized canoe down the river until you arrive at La Selva?s main dock. Then, for your final leg of the trip, transfer to La Selva Lodge by paddle canoe. Upon arrival, the manager will greet you with a refreshing juice, snacks and a short briefing on general information about your stay.

In the afternoon, head outside for the Matapalo Trail. Walk alongside a naturalist guide and learn about the 400-year-old Mahogany trees that line the trail. Spot flora and fauna, and watch as the nocturnal animals make an appearance as they begin their daily transitional activities. After your walk, head to the lodge bar for some snacks and a refreshing cocktail. Or, help yourself to the limitless tea and coffee. Then enjoy dinner and relax for the night.

Day 2

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at the lodge. Then, embark on a trail walk towards the Observation Tower & Tucaneta Trail. After 20 minutes, walking in the forest, you will catch a glimpse of the 120 ft tower. Climb to the top and experience amazing panoramic views of the rainforest, where you can spot colorful birds and maybe even certain primates. On your way back from the tower, head down the Tucaneta Trail, where your naturalist guide can teach you about the medicinal plants grown in the region.

Head back to the lodge for lunch. After a brief rest, walk along the Charapa Trail. At the end of the trail is a beautiful lagoon where you can spot mammals, monkeys, and birds that are often looking for food. Also, this is an excellent spot to watch an Amazonian sunset.

After, take a canoe ride around the lagoon for an opportunity to stargaze. Then, return to the lodge for dinner.

A large group of green parrots gather on a reddish clay cliff in the Amazon rainforest, some pecking at the soil while others fly or perch around the rocky surface. The background is a natural earth wall.
Day 3

After breakfast, head to the Parrot Clay Lick. While here, you can spot hundreds of parrots and parakeets gathering for the mineral-rich soil, important for the dietary needs. Binoculars will be essential to capturing every bit of this moment. After the clay lick, you will meet an Amazonian Kichua woman, who will welcome you to their community. Listen to the stories of the Amazonian people and learn about their unique culture and lifestyle.

Later, head to the Coto Trail where you can walk to the edge of the Garzacocha Lagoon. The afternoon sun will light up this trail, allowing you to experience the true beauty of the rainforest. Watch as groups of black-mantled tamarin monkeys become visible in the trees. Your naturalist guide will explain to you all the different creatures that can be found here. Then, take a canoe ride back to the lodge where you can relax for the rest of the evening.

A group of people in the Amazon rainforest closely observe something in a man's hand, with cameras and binoculars ready, while another person stands in the background.
Day 4

Today you will explore the Mandi Forest. Make sure you eat a hearty breakfast because you will be walking through the primary forest for around 3 to 4 hours. While you are immersed in this type of ecosystem, there will be plenty of opportunities to spot some of the biggest mammals of the rainforest, such as wild pigs, tapir or deer. After walking for some time, you will reach the lagoon of Mandi Cocha. Here, canoe through the Igapo Forest where you can see various species of birds and possibly the exclusive giant otter.

In the afternoon, explore Garzacocha Lagoon and the Ceiba Trail. You will be amazed by the beauty of the Garzacocha Lagoon, as it is one of the most mesmerizing lagoons in all the Ecuadorian Amazon. During this trip, you will have the chance to spot monkeys, birds and possibly the famous pimy armoset, which is the smallest monkey in the world.

In the evening, go for a nocturnal walk where you can experience the mystery of the mighty jungle at night. Make sure to bring a flashlight for this unique experience. Once you return to the lodge, you will be briefed for your departure the next day and dinner will be served.
