20+ Years Designing Patagonia Tours

Patagonia cruises offer a unique way to explore one of the most remote and dramatic regions in South America. Sailing through glacier-carved fjords, narrow channels, and icy southern waters allows travelers to experience Patagonia’s landscapes and wildlife from a completely different perspective.

Cruising the Fjords & Southern Waters of Patagonia

Patagonia cruise itineraries span both Argentina and Chile, often linking key gateways such as Ushuaia, Punta Arenas, and Puerto Natales. Popular routes explore the Chilean fjords and ice fields, round Cape Horn, or continue south toward Antarctica and the South Shetland Islands. Other journeys focus on wildlife-rich coastlines near the Valdés Peninsula or include scenic lake crossings between Chile’s Lake District and Argentine Patagonia. Many travelers combine a cruise with land-based experiences in Torres del Paine, Tierra del Fuego, or other highlights of Patagonia.

Patagonia Cruise FAQs

Most Patagonia cruises operate from around mid-September to April, avoiding the Patagonian winter months. Days are longest in December and January and this is when the weather is likely to be best, however, these are also the most expensive months and there is a lot to be said for visiting in spring and autumn.
Most cruises include regular landings along the way, youll often disembark in smaller boats called zodiacs and then have a guided walk, observe wildlife such as penguins, or visit small settlements. The level of activity on the cruises is mostly quite moderate, no special levels of fitness are needed.
This depends a lot on the ship, itinerary and cabin type you choose, but expect upwards of about US$600 per day including meals and excursions.
Yes, you can! There are two ways to get to Antarctica. One is to take a cruise from Ushuaia, Argentina where youll cross the infamous Drake Passage. The other way is to fly from Punta Arenas, Chile, and land on King George Island in Antarctica.
