Originally from Elmhurst, Illinois, Marty Kaleta brings a unique analytical lens to the world of travel. As a student of Urban Geography, Marty first arrived in South America as a study-abroad student in Buenos Aires, where he became captivated by the hospitality, liveliness, and complex diversity of the continent’s urban centers.
Since joining the SouthAmerica.travel team, Marty has spent his time living between the rhythmic streets of Rio de Janeiro and the historic neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. This dual-residency has allowed him to master “Portuñol” and gain an insider’s perspective on the local music scenes and cultural subcultures that most tourists never see.
When he isn’t designing custom itineraries, you can find Marty photographing vintage cars or diving into local record shops. His goal is to inspire others to move beyond the postcards and truly connect with the authentic pulse of South American city life.
