“We have just returned from a nearly two week journey across Colombia that was expertly handled by Neptuno Travel via SouthAmerica.travel. From the initial contact with Victoria while anxiously waiting for a snowstorm to subside on the tarmac in Columbus, Ohio USA, throughout the trip all was handled with extreme care.

We began our travels in Colombia in Bogota then traveled to Villa de Leyva, stopping at the salt cathedral in Zipaquira. Our personal guide, Fabio, was amazing. He knows the area so well and enticed us with facts and features of the area. I was seeking Mola boots for both my daughter and myself, and he knew a shop in Villa de Leyva that had a number of them in the sizes needed. He then picked us up the next morning and hand delivered us to the check in at the airport for our flight to Popayan.

In Popayan, we had two guides the local one and Frank (Franco). Frank then traveled with us to San Agustin where we spent two days viewing the archeological sites and riding horseback for four hours touring the sites and the river areas. Frank was fantastic as well. He is a hands on type of guide and led the horseback tours:-) Again, we were hand delivered to the airport in Neiva to fly to Santa Marta via Bogota. It still amazes me that the transitions such as this were totally flawless.

Arriving in Santa Marta, we spent half a day in the Tayrona Park with another well informed,menthusiastic guide. When we transitioned to Cartagena, we requested that we be picked up a couple of hours early and Victoria granted our wish. In stepped another amazing and charismatic guide, Arthur (Arturo). He kept us laughing the entire drive to Cartagena. He, like the other guides we had throughout the trip, presented timely and flawless tours of the area. We flew back to Bogota for our last night and again, seamlessly, we were picked up and dropped off with precision and care.

I wish to thank all who were involved in making this trip such a memorable one. The guides, hotels, destinations, and planning were all varied and delightful. Everyone was on time and even early in many cases. The guides were dedicated and personalized the days and sights for us. It was one of those adventures that we will be discussing and reflecting on for years to come. A special thanks to Victoria Zota of Neptuno for answering my many emails while traveling in Colombia. This trip exceeded our expectations and I am smiling right now while composing this review as a flood of sweet memories of Colombia fill my heart.
