Note: This is a tour extension, combine this tour with one of our full package tours.
Arrive at Córdoba airport and transfer to Estancia La Paz, General Roca's former residence. Discover the area by horseback, enjoy an old-fashioned carriage ride or set out in a boat and leisurely row across the lake. Pause for lunch, and then visit the quaint and charming Candonga Chapel. Spend the rest of the day freely exploring the area on your own and return for dinner at the estancia before unwinding for the evening.
Explore the rustic countryside even further and travel to Estancia Santa Catalina, a renowned ranch for raising cattle, sheep and mules. Visit the striking church and admire its Baroque-colonial style architecture. Continue toward Estancia Jesús María, an estate specializing in winemaking. Head to the National Jesuit Museum to learn about their fascinating influence of spanning centuries, and then journey to Colonia Caroya, the first ranch bought by the Jesuits in 1616. Colonia Caroya´s history has changed significantly over the decades, at one time used as a holiday resort by the students of Montserrat School and later on as an arms factory. Sit down and enjoy a pleasant lunch here and afterward, travel to Córdoba, one of the three most important cities in Argentina. Spend the rest of the evening at leisure.
Today, visit the Civic Center, the first settlement of the Jesuits in Córdoba. Visit the main facilities including the educational centers and churches which were constructed in the 16th century. Take a break for lunch and in the afternoon, visit Estancia Alta Gracia. Explore the grounds that were once operated by the Jesuits and devoted to the production of textile looms and bell manufacturing. See the church and the “tajamar” of the estancia, the oldest dam in the province. Then return to the hotel and enjoy a delicious dinner before retiring for the evening.
This morning, travel to Estancia La Candelaria and see the legacy of cattle farming on this formerly grand estate. After lunch, return to Córdoba and appreciate spending the rest of the day free.
Say farewell to the rural heart of Jesuit country and depart to the airport for your flight back home or onto your next destination in South America.
