Your guide will meet you in the city of Manaus to take you on a 2.5-hour transfer to Novo Airão. Enjoy these first moments as you enter the jungle. Eat lunch at a nearby restaurant called CamuCamu before going on a city tour of Novo Airão. You will have the option to explore the city by bike or motor vehicle. After your city tour, choose between attending an informative lecture on the Amazon and learn about the Rio Negro, local life, medicinal practices and more. Or spend the afternoon diving with buoys in the Rio Negro. Head back to the lodge in the early evening and enjoy a delicious dinner. Sit back, relax and soak in your first night in the jungle
Optional Activity: In the evening, your guide can take you on a night tour to search for alligators and other nocturnal animals in Anavilhanas National Park.
Get ready for your first full day in the Amazon. Enjoy a healthy breakfast at the lodge before heading out for today’s activities. The activities will vary depending on the season.
Dry Season: Take a 45-minute boat ride to Chameleon Beach in the heart of Anavilhanas National Park. Go for a swim and admire the flora and fauna. After visiting the beach, go on a short hike to see the largest tree in the Anavilhanas Forest, the Giant Macucu. Finish the afternoon at Sobrado Beach, where you will enjoy a traditional Amazon lunch of fresh fish. Spend some time relaxing in the hammocks and soak in the surroundings.
Flood Season: Take a boat ride to visit Sobrado riverside community where you will go on a 2.5-hour hike to see the fauna, flora, and Samaúma, the largest tree species in the Amazon. Enjoy a traditional Amazon lunch of fish at a local Caboclo house. In the afternoon, return to the Lodge.
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before heading out for the day. Take a 1.5-hour boat ride to the Mainterpretive Forest Trail to visit the Madadá Caves and the hall of stone. After hiking through the jungle visit Caboclo and go on a tour of a local farm.
Flood Season: In the afternoon, eat lunch at the Madadá Belvedere overlooking the Anavilhanas Archipelago. Relax in the hammocks and take in the sights and sounds of the Amazon. End your day with a short excursion to see the Tanimbuca tree.
Dry Season: Go on a tour of a small local farm and enjoy an authentic lunch. After lunch, get ready for some diving at the Madadá Caves. Finish the afternoon with a 1.5-hour boat ride back to the lodge, and admire the scenery of the islands as you pass through Anavilhanas National Park.
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before heading out for the day’s activities. Take the boat towards Castanheira Narrow River, where you have the option to go canoeing. Return to the lodge for lunch and take the afternoon to rest and make use the lodge’s amenities. Consider attending an optional lecture on the Amazon biome, dry-flood regime of the Rio Negro, water basins, local culture and medicinal knowledge. Finish the evening with a live performance of regional folk dancing.
Take a boat ride early in the morning to catch the sunrise at Anavilhanas Archipelago. Admire the intense colors of the jungle and look for wildlife as they awake from their slumber. Return to the lodge in time for breakfast.
After breakfast, take a boat ride to a local fishing hole, perfect for piranha fishing. On your way back, stop by a freshwater beach (during the dry season) or visit the aquatic trail through igapós (during the wet season). In the afternoon, visit the Pink Dolphin Floating House where you will have the opportunity to see freshwater dolphins.
Return to the lodge just in time for check out and enjoy lunch before your transfer back to Manaus.
