Sample Itinerary

A large flock of white water birds wade and fly around a shallow wetland in the Pantanal Wetlands, with green vegetation in the background and patches of water plants in the foreground.
Day 1

Arrive at the Cuiabá/Várzea Grande Airport and meet your tour guide, who will transfer you to your hotel.  Stop at a local barbecue restaurant and enjoy a quick lunch before continuing to Cáceres, about 136 miles (220 km) from Cuiabá. Travel along a paved road, near the border of Bolivia and the Paraguay River. In the afternoon, you will arrive at your hotel where you can settle in and meet some of the local guides. In the evening set sail down the Paraguay River towards the Taiamã Ecological Reserve, about 100 miles (160 km) from Cáceres. Dinner will be served on board. Take in the sights, sounds, and smells of the Pantanal Wetlands.

Day 2 - 5

Every day you will climb aboard the riverboat provided by your local guide. Meals are provided throughout the day. Get to know some of your fellow travelers and go on small boat excursions to smaller tributaries of the Paraguay River for the best fishing. Return to your hotel in the evening and enjoy a delicious dinner. Listen to the sounds of the Pantanal as the sun sets, and the birds and other wildlife prepare for the night.

Three wooden rowboats are anchored in shallow water among green plants at sunset, with orange and purple hues lighting up the sky and reflecting on the calm lake—a serene scene perfect for a Fishing Tour in Brazil’s stunning Pantanal.
Day 6 - 8

Enjoy a hearty breakfast and set out for another full day of fishing. After a few hours on the river, eat a packed lunch on the boat. Sail upstream to Barranco Vermelho Ranch, a traditional ranch where you will enjoy an authentic dinner and spend the night.

The following day, continue sailing up the Paraguay River back to Cáceres. Once you have reached Cáceres, you will have the night free to explore.

The next morning, return to Cuiabá for your flight home or to your next destination in South America. If you wish to spend more time in the region, we recommend staying at the Araras Lodge or going on an excursion to the Chapada dos Guimarães.
