Example Itinerary – Fully Customizable

Day 1

Arrive at the Cuiabá airport and transfer to Pousada do Rio Mutum passing through the small village of Mimoso. On the way, keep your eyes open for sightings of various birds, small mammals, and the tropical wetlands. Once you check-in at the Rio Mutum Lodge, head to the welcome reception and meet a few of your fellow travelers. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure and relax until dinner. In the evening, you will enjoy a delicious dinner and learn about the activities and excursions available over the next few days.

Day 2

Rise and shine! Head to the dining hall for a hearty breakfast at 6:30 am. After breakfast, you will go horseback riding through the winding trails of the lush forest, until you reach the edge of the Siá Mariana Bay. During the year, a wide variety of birds, animals, and reptiles gather in this bay, so be sure to bring your camera and take a few photos of the wildlife. After, you will return to the lodge and relax until lunch.

In the afternoon, you will go a boat ride down the Mutum River following the banks to Siá Mariana Bay, and Chacororé Bay. Your guide will be looking for wildlife along the way. Return to the lodge in the evening, stopping to see the sunset at the Siá Mariana Bay where you can go piranha fishing. In the evening, there will be caiman feeding with the piranhas fished from Siá Mariana Bay. Also, keep your eyes open for nocturnal animal spotting.
Return to the lodge in time for dinner and reflect on your first day in the Pantanal.

Note: You can fish for piranhas from February to September. However, from October to January 31st, it is prohibited to fish in the Mato Grosso, because it is the breeding season for the fish.

Day 3

Today you will wake up early to go canoeing. Canoe down the Mutum River and watch the spectacular sunrise as you listen to the Pantanal come to life. Some say the most beautiful time in the Pantanal is the break of dawn. Return to the lodge for breakfast around 6:30 am and the gather your belongings for check-out. Transfer to the Cuiabá airport and continue to your next destination in Brazil.
