Example Itinerary – Fully Customizable

Day 1

Difficulty: Easy
Arrive at Tierra Patagonia lodge at around 3 pm. Walk through the lodge to get to know its facilities, such as the spa with the massage room and the swimming pool.

Meet your guide to choose one of the group excursions available at the lodge menu. From now on, we’ll provide you with sample itineraries to show you the highlights of Torres del Paine:

Mirador Cuernos:
Take a hike in the heart of the National Park, admiring the characteristic view of the horn-shaped formation, ‘Cuernos del Paine.’ The journey starts by car, passing by Lakes Sarmiento and Nordenskjöld. Start your journey by foot and contemplate the ‘Salto Grande’ (Big Waterfall), the shores of Lake Nordenskjöld, and a strategical spot where the geology that formed the massif can be appreciated. Please bear in mind that this is an area of requent strong winds.

Walk length: 2 to 2.5 hrs / 6 km
Travel time: Outwards, 50 min. – Return, 50 min.

Day 2

Difficulty: Medium
In the morning, depart for a full-day tour that will allow you to enjoy Torres del Paine in a relaxed way, separated from the beaten paths.

Hike through the southern edge of the park, surrounded by Maravillas and Porteno Lakes. Reach Puesto de las Dunas on the shores of Del Toro (Spanish for bull), the largest lake in the region, to have a picture-perfect view of the turquoise waters and the verdant forest. Some of the endemic tree species you will see include lenga, ñirre, coigüe, siete camisas and canelo.

Enjoy a box lunch by the lake and finish off the trail at the western side of the bay, where a van will pick you up and transfer you to Tierra Patagonia.

Walk length: 5 to 6 hours / 12 km
Travel time: Outwards, 55 min. – Return, 90 min.

Day 3

Difficulty: Easy
Today, take Macizo Paine (Paine Massif) tour, one of the scenic tours that enable you take in the majestic beauty of the national park.

The tour takes place in the western area, and is ideal for those who don’t count with much time in the park since it passes by the landmarks of Torres del Paine, stopping at strategic places to take photographs.

Visit the grey peninsula, with the pristine glacier, the astonishing mirror-lake, and the native forests, home to the huemul, a Patagonian deer that is one of Chile’s national symbols. Also, drive along Del Toro Lake, admiring the reflection of the rock formations on its clear waters.

Return to Tierra Patagonia at the late evening, where you can make use of the spa, read a book in the living room, or unwind in your private room.

Duration: 8 hours

Day 4

Board a van and head to a privilege viewpoint that will reward you with panoramic pictures of the national park. Reach Pingo Valley and start walking through a gently sloping trail that follows the course of the Pingo River.

Not only will you see one of the most beautiful evergreen landscapes in Torres del Paine, but also learn about local culture at a gaucho ‘puesto’ and take sight of a small waterfall called ‘Chorillo del Salmón’ hidden in the woods.

Have lunch outdoors and continue towards the Grey Lake, where floating icebergs descending from the mighty Grey Glacier can be seen in the distance, showing the diverse scenes to find at the park. Return to the lodge by van.

Walk length: Pingo 2 hrs /6 km Grey 1,5 hrs / 4 km
Travel time: Outwards, 90 min. – Return, 90 min.

Day 5

Difficulty: High
Cerro Obelisco is a challenging excursion for those who enjoy an intense exercise and a closer contact with nature and wildlife.

Reach the remote Baguales Mountain range and take a 3-hour hike at nearly 650 m (2100 ft) of altitude to get to the top of the hill. View the surreal shapes of the rock formations, a result of years of erosion in the area. With a clear sky, you will have a privileged view of the vastness of Torres del Paine.

Return to the lodge on a trail that goes through an ancient forest of lenga located near Las Chinas River.

Walk length: 5.5 to 6.5 hours / 6 km
Travel time: Outwards, 60 min. – Return, 60 min.

Day 6

Difficulty: Easy
Patagonia is famous for its breathtaking landscapes, but also for its ‘gaucho’ culture. This tour allows you to get an insight of the local customs and the Estancia lifestyle.

Transfer to Estancia Cerro Guido, where your guide will join you and your group on a horseback riding tour to visit part of this 100.000-hectare territory.

Chaps and helments are provided by the estancia.

Duration: 2 hours

Note: Horseback rides have to be book with a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Full-day horse rides are available at an additional coast.

Day 7

After breakfast, pack your luggage to leave at the schedule time to your next destination in Patagonia. The lodge offers transfers to Punta Arenas (where the aiport is located), Puerto Natales, Cerro Castillo and (for an additional coast) Argentina’s El Calafate, gateway to Perito Moreno Glacier.
