Day 1

Depart from Quito early in the morning for your adventure to the Mashpi Lodge. On your way to the lodge, you will pass by the equatorial line ("Middle of the World"), the Rio Blanco, the quaint town of Nanegalito, and past various farming communities. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will choose the parts of the cloud forest that you would like to explore, with the help of the expedition staff. Then listen to an informational lecture about Mashpi Lodge and all its wonders.

After lunch, head out for an afternoon activity. Perhaps, you can explore the magical forest. Walk along the trails and spot orchids, lianas and bromeliads. Later, when the sun sets, head out for a night walk. At this hour, you can see a completely different perspective of the forest. One where frogs, snakes, insects and even tarantulas might make an appearance!

Day 2

Start the day off right, on the panoramic terrace. While here, watch and hear a menagerie of birds nearby the lodge. After breakfast, opt for a waterfall hike. Make sure to pack a bathing suit, in case you feel like taking a dip after the long hike! After, visit the Hummingbird Garden and listen to the sweet music the birds make.

After lunch, experience the cloud forest from a new perspective on the aerial Sky Bike and from the Observation Tower. The Observation Tower is an excellent place to watch the sunset behind the clouds.

In the evening, join in on a discussion of the prepared series of lectures. The lectures will be given by one of the naturalist guides or one of the resident biologists.
