Travelers from South Africa and many other Latin American countries DO NOT REQUIRE A VISA to enter Paraguay. However, it is still very important you check with your local consulate or embassy for the most up-to-date visa & passport requirements.
Passport Requirements:

Citizens of ALL countries: To enter Paraguay, your passport must be valid for a minimum of 6 months after your travel dates. For example, if you are traveling to Paraguay in March, your passport must be valid through September of that year.

We strongly recommend making copies of your passport. Keep your original passport locked away in the safe of your hotel and carry a photocopy of your passport with you during your travels. You might also consider purchasing a passport holder to keep all your documents safe.

Visa Requirements:

Visas are NOT REQUIRED for US nationals, Canadian nationals, Australia nationals, UK nationals or most European Union nationals, for

Citizens of the United States, Australia, Canada, India, Russia, Taiwan and New Zealand ARE REQUIRED to obtain a tourist visa for entry into Paraguay.

Most other EU Nationals can visit Paraguay visa-free for up to 90 days.

Visa Fees:

Citizens of the United States, Australia, Canada, India, Russia, Taiwan and New Zealand ARE REQUIRED to pay a reciprocity fee to enter Paraguay.

The fees are as follows:

  • USA: $160
  • Canada: $150
  • Australia: US $135

You can pay this fee in cash (USD) upon arrival only at the Silvio Pettirossi International airport. For all other points of entry, you must obtain a visa prior to arrival. The cost varies depending on your nationality.

Most other EU Nationals can visit Paraguay visa-free for up to 90 days.

Processing Time for Visas:

Citizens of the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Qatar can obtain visas instantly upon arrival only at Silvio Pettirossi International airport.

For applications submitted to a consulate or embassy, expect two to three business days for visas to process, however for some nationalities visas can take up to 30 days to process.
