Sample Itinerary

Two boats with tourists approach the base of a large, multi-tiered waterfall surrounded by lush greenery under a bright blue sky—an unforgettable sight on the Historic Rail Tour along the Brazil Gold Route. Turbulent waters and mist add to the adventure.
Day 1

Start your adventure by staying close to the spectacular Iguazu Falls. Upon arrival at the airport, your guide will greet you and take you to your comfortable hotel. Settle in and go for a refreshing dip in the swimming pool or just relax at your hotel. Feast on a Brazilian dinner tonight (included).

Tourists stand on a boardwalk in Argentina’s Land of Contrast, surrounded by lush greenery overlooking massive waterfalls and a rainbow at Iguazu Falls, with mist rising and forest in the background.
Day 2

Visit Iguazu Falls from both Argentina and Brazil on a full-day excursion. Cross into Argentina for a walk above the Falls, more extensive and powerful than Niagara Falls. For a different perspective, take the Gran Aventura boat cruise underneath the cascading torrents to see them in greater detail and feel the spray of the water. Then head to the Brazilian side and walk out onto an elevated platform to view the mighty garganta do diabo or “Devil’s Throat.”

A group of dancers in traditional blue and white folk costumes perform outdoors during a Brazil Oktoberfest, lifting and twirling each other as a crowd waves small flags. The festive scene is lively, set against trees in the background.
Day 3

Head to the heart of German colonization in the 19th century, the hillside town of Blumenau. German heritage is evident in the architecture, food and festivals of the area, including the popular Oktoberfest every spring. The residents of Blumenau roll out their best kegs of beer and dust off their lederhosen to get into the spirit. Known as one of the largest Oktoberfest celebrations outside Munich, it’s a major attraction for fans of German culture or those that simply enjoy a pint or two. Dine on some traditional Deutsch cuisine and stay at a conveniently-located hotel close to all the action

A smiling man and woman in traditional Bavarian clothing stand close together outdoors at Brazil Oktoberfest. The woman holds a tall glass of beer and smiles, while the man looks at the camera. The blurred background hints at a festive celebration.
Day 4

See the highlights of historical Blumenau with your expert tour guide who will also explain how Oktoberfest began here. In 1880, a wave of German and Austrian immigrants decided to settle in the area, pioneering further growth. After the tour, join in with the crowds to watch the Oktoberfest parade that often features musicians from Munich and children dancing to traditional songs. Don’t miss the chance to sample a range of German beers and tasty bratwurst.

A wide flowerbed with colorful flowers leads to a glass greenhouse in a botanical garden, surrounded by green lawns and hedges—perfect for relaxing after a scenic Brazil Train Tour under a blue sky with scattered clouds.
Day 5

Travel through the diverse landscapes of the region on your way to Curitiba. Journey through the dense Atlantic Rainforest, flat farmland, subtropical forest and Araucária trees. Once in Curitiba, check-in to your hotel. Named the best-organized city in South America and is considered a model of urban planning for many Western countries. A veritable melting-pot, it has welcomed a variety of immigrants of Dutch, Polish, German, Italian, Ukrainian, Arab and Japanese origin. Tonight’s dinner (included) offers a taste of the region’s mix of cultures and cuisines.

A cityscape with tall modern buildings, a large domed structure, and water fountains in a lake, surrounded by trees under a bright blue sky—once part of the historic Brazil Gold Route, this scene blends modern life with storied heritage.
