Sample Itinerary

A man in a suit and a woman in a black dress and patterned tights perform a tango pose outdoors at dusk, evoking the passion of South America, with a bridge and cityscape in the background.
Day 1

Begin your tour, in the European-style capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. If you'd like, your guide can take you to the San Telmo Antiques Market so you can do a little shopping before heading to your hotel. This famous antiques market is only open on Sundays.

In the evening, enjoy a Tango Show & Dinner at one of the tango clubs in downtown Buenos Aires. Included are all drinks, a 3-course meal including mouth-watering Argentine steak, transfers to and from your hotel, and a professional tango dance show with live music.

A landscaped plaza with trimmed hedges, a palm tree, ornate street lamps, sculptures, and a sign reading Plaza Congreso. The Coast to Coast Tour lets you admire the grand building with its striking green dome in the background.
Day 2

Sightseeing in this elegant city includes the Casa Rosada as well as the history-laden Plaza de Mayo, the Obelisk on 9 de Julio Avenue, and many more landmarks.

In the afternoon, you can spend the day as you wish. You may want to stroll along the Puerto Madero waterfront, grab a bite to eat in a sidewalk cafe, or opt for an additional excursion to the Tigre Delta on a riverboat cruise.

A winding pedestrian bridge stretches over a misty river with scattered rocks and green vegetation, surrounded by lush forest and a waterfall in the background—an enchanting scene along the Brazil Gold Route.
Day 3

After breakfast in your Buenos Aires hotel, your driver will take you to the airport for the flight to Puerto Iguazu. Once in Iguazu, a tour guide will be waiting to pick you up and take you to your hotel.

Several powerful waterfalls cascade down rocky cliffs surrounded by lush greenery. Below, three boats with tourists—many on a Brazil Train Tour—approach the base of the falls, creating white spray in the turbulent, greenish water.
Day 4

Today's full day excursion shows you the Iguazu Falls from both sides. First, cross into Argentina for a walk above the falls, wider and more powerful than Niagara. A boat guides you to an island to get a close-up view of the Falls from below. The mist of the Falls engulfs you on the Brazilian side, as you walk out onto a platform and into the garganta do diabo, the 'devil's throat'. Opt to the Great Adventure boat ride under the Falls on the Brazilian side.

A person stands by a window, holding up a smartphone to capture the scenic mountain landscape along the Brazil Gold Route, with trees in the foreground and sunlight illuminating the stunning view.
Day 5

Travel through the Atlantic Rainforest today from Iguazu to Curitiba. Along the way, you'll pass by rolling hills, farms, subtropical forests, and Araucária trees. Once in Curitiba, check in to your hotel and relax. Tonight's included dinner will give you a taste of the region's mix of cultures.

A wide flowerbed with colorful flowers leads to a glass greenhouse in a botanical garden, surrounded by green lawns and hedges—perfect for relaxing after a scenic Brazil Train Tour under a blue sky with scattered clouds.
Day 6

First thing in the morning, take a city tour of Curitiba, especially of the Glass Opera House and the Botanical Gardens. Then your tour guide will take you down to the coast to Antonina, a charming port city with historic houses, churches, and waterfront. Then head inland, stopping in the tranquil town of Morretes for a delicious barreado lunch. Then board the scenic historic railway as it winds its way from sea level up 1200m (3/4 of a mile high!) over the Serra do Mar mountains back to Curitiba.

Later in the day, fly from Curitiba to Rio de Janeiro and transfer to a hotel near Copacabana Beach. This world-famous beach is where all the cariocas, the locals, come to play, relax, hang out, and people-watch. Join in, relax by the hotel's rooftop swimming pool or stay inside for the rest of the evening.

Dancers in vibrant blue swirling costumes and colorful headpieces move energetically during Rio’s Carnival parade, creating a dynamic and blurred effect that captures the excitement of the celebration.
Day 7

Today, tour Sugar Loaf Mountain, one of the must-see highlights of Rio de Janeiro. Board the funicular cable car to approach the summit of Sugar Loaf. At the top, you're greeted by a 360º spectrum of golden beaches, green forests and a thriving metropolis that has earned Rio de Janeiro the title of the "World's Most Beautiful City."

In the evening, meet your fellow travelers for a rodizio-style dinner, an all-you-can-eat buffet, Brazilian style. There's an assortment of barbecue meats, veggies, fruits, cheeses, sweets, and more, all included.

Afterward, follow a local guide will take to the Sambadromo for the Champion's Parade. Held at the end of Rio Carnival's week-long celebrations, the Champion's Parade is the grand finale. The 6 samba schools that won prizes at the Rio Carnival parades earlier in the week all parade together in one lively, vivacious celebration comprised of over 3000 dancers! Witness the vibrant costumes, elaborate floats, expert samba musicians, and incredible dancing at this year's Rio Carnival parade.

Tourists gather at the base of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, under a blue sky with wispy clouds as the sun sets—an unforgettable moment on the Brazil Gold Route or a highlight of any Rio New Years Tour.
Day 8

You may want to sleep in this morning, and have a late breakfast. Then meet your tour guide for an excursion into Rio de Janeiro's Tijuca forest, where the Corcovado Mountain rises up to 710m (2340ft). Atop the mountain is the Christ the Redeemer statue, a 30-meter tall icon with outstretched arms welcoming all into the city. Board the trenzinho (cogwheel railway) to reach the top, see the statue up-close, and enjoy panoramic views of the city, forest, and beaches.

A crowded beach in Rio de Janeiro with people sunbathing and relaxing under colorful umbrellas, palm trees in the foreground, and city buildings with mountains in the background on a sunny day—a perfect spot for a Beaches Tour.
Day 9

Today's free day is designed so that you can rest and relax or take advantage of the multitude of optional excursions in and around Rio de Janeiro. There's a schooner cruise of Guanabara Bay, in-depth historical and cultural tours of the city, 4x4 off-road trips into the Tijuca National Forest, and more.

We recommend a full-day tour to the fisherman's village of Itacuruçá, located 1 hour south of Rio de Janeiro. The Saveiro, name given to this typical boat that looks like a schooner, cruises the Sepetiba Bay. Take a schooner cruise and keep your eyes out for dolphins, giant kingfishers, parrots, turtles and sting-rays. The schooner will stop at various islands and give you time for snorkeling and swimming. Enjoy a buffet lunch at one of the islands.

Return to your hotel in Rio de Janeiro for a final night in "The Marvelous City."

Close-up view of the front section of a white airplane on an airport tarmac in Argentina, the Land of Contrast, showing its cockpit windows, nose, one engine, and landing gear.
Day 10

Have breakfast and then enjoy some free time or transfer directly to the airport, depending on your departure time.
