Sample Itinerary

A small town with colorful houses is nestled in a green valley near El Chalten, surrounded by rocky cliffs and distant mountains under a bright blue sky—perfect for joining a trekking tour.
Day 1

This morning, meet your guide at the airport and set out for El Chaltén, a hiker’s paradise located close to Viedma Lake and Mount Fitz Roy. Check into your hotel upon arrival and spend the afternoon as you wish. Relax at the hotel or get acquainted with the area and take a walk through town. Explore the many hiking trails around El Chaltén that lead deep into the heart of Patagonia and encounter its magnificent glaciers, lagoons and peaks.

Snow-covered jagged mountains rise sharply under a clear blue sky, with rocky and icy slopes in the foreground. The tallest peak stands prominently at the center, surrounded by smaller peaks and glaciers of wild Patagonia.
Day 2

Get ready for a 7-hour trek to Cerro Torre, one of the most popular hikes in El Chaltén, Argentina's trekking capital. The trail starts from the village and follows the Canyon of Fitz Roy River. On the first track, contemplate the cascading waterfalls and continue walking for another hour and a half. Then pause for a break, and experience an incredible view of the world's most difficult mountain to climb, Cerro Torre. Rest here and admire Cerro Torre and the grandeur of the surrounding glaciers.

The second track meanders through the valley before reaching De Agostini Base Camp, a popular meeting point for travelers from all over the world. Hike to Laguna Torre and view the unique rock formations in the area before returning by the same route. For the extra energetic, there’s an optional forty-five-minute hike to Maestri Viewpoint, a spectacular natural balcony overlooking the icy glacier flowing through the mountain pass and Laguna Torre. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

A person with a backpack hikes along a path through green trees in Patagonia, with dramatic snow-covered mountains and glaciers rising in the background under a blue sky with clouds.
Day 3

This morning, venture out on a moderate 5-hour guided trek to Laguna Capri, renowned for its breathtaking views of Mount Fitz Roy, its glaciers and the phenomenal granite massif. From here, spy the spectacular peaks of the Agua Saint-Exupery and Poincenot mountains in the distance. Consider hiking to Laguna de los Tres to test your endurance and be rewarded with generous alpine views. Depending on your fitness level, this extension tour takes three to five hours. A picnic lunch is included on the trek. After descending, transfer to Estancia Nibepo Aike located within Los Glaciares National Park, check-in and retire for the rest of the evening.

Two hikers with backpacks and trekking poles walk along a rocky trail through colorful autumn trees in Patagonia, with snow-capped mountains and distant glaciers beneath a partly cloudy sky.
Day 4

Today, choose from a wide array of outdoors activities on offer from the Estancia Nibepo Aike. Perhaps mount a horse and canter through Los Glaciares National Park to admire the panoramic views of the mighty glaciers, learn how the gauchos herd cattle and shear sheep, or hike to discover the Park by foot. Or, simply rest and recover after a long day of trekking, and enjoy the lodge’s facilities in the center of one of the most beautiful parks in South America.

A scenic view of a small town, reminiscent of El Chalten, with colorful houses nestled at the base of rocky hills, a river and grassy banks in the foreground—an inviting spot for any trekking tour under a partly cloudy sky.
Day 5

This morning, say a final farewell to the Patagonian region of El Calafate. Spend an hour or two in the village and admire a last view of the mountains and glaciers, or head directly to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires.
