A rustic wooden cabin with a thatched roof is nestled among lush tropical plants and trees at Inotawa Lodge. The porch, with wooden railings and furniture, creates a cozy outdoor space in the heart of Tambopata’s jungle.
Day 1

Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport, meet your guide and transfer to Puerto Nuevo, making a quick stop at the city. The journey will reward you with rural landscapes of cattle ranches and banana plantations of the Infierno Community.

Reach the port and board a boat that takes you upwards the Tambopata River. Take this chance to test your ability to spot hidden animals like egrets, monkeys, herons. Your first taste of Peruvian Amazonian cuisine begins right here onboard, with a typical Chinese Peruvian fried rice (arroz chaufa) wrapped in red palulu leaves.

Once at the lodge, you will be welcomed by the staff, who will explain to you the dos and don'ts in the rainforest so that you can make the most of your stay in a responsible way.

After lunch, join your guide to explore the surroundings and identify the local flora, including huge kapok trees with the exotic kapoks, whose soft white pulp is used as a natural fiber. Kapok fiber is 8 times lighter than cotton, so it has to be mixed with other kinds of fiber to be used as textile fabric. After this introduction to the rainforest, return to the lodge and spend your first night on this natural haven.

A group of colorful macaws with red, blue, and green feathers cling to the side of a clay cliff in the Amazon rainforest near Inotawa Lodge, surrounded by lush green foliage.
Day 2

La Torre Clay Lick:
A visit to a clay lick is an experience every bird or nature lover is bound to enjoy. Clay is part of the diet of many local birds, which according to some scientists use it to neutralize the poison of some of the fruits. You will have the privilege to observe this phenomenon from a hideout located just 30 meters from the clay lick. Follow your guide's instructions to gaze parakeets, macaws, and parrots in their natural habitat.

Tres Chimbadas Lake:
After you've returned to Inotawa and recharged your batteries with a delicious breakfast, head southwards towards the area of Tres Chimbadas Lake. Pass by an eco-tourism concession run by people from the Infierno community, who maintain the area partly with the income made by the entry fees.

This lake is home to a giant river otter clan, marine mammals that are among the list of endangered species. Take a catamaran ride to go over the like and learn about its ecosystem of lush vegetation and slim birds such as snakebirds and herons, and also stout birds like kingfishers.

Don Aurelio's Farm:
Your last excursion combines nature and culture on a visit to a local farm. Meet the owners as they show you all the different fruits and herbs cultivated in the area. Discover the medical properties of the herbs and try the flavors of these fruits, so unusual for outsiders.

The sweetness of bananas and papayas attract verdant toucanets and silver beaked tanagers, sociable birds that eat not only fruits but also insects.
After the tour, return to the lodge to spend your last night in the Amazon.

The pointed bow of a canoe glides through a narrow, sunlit waterway near Tambopata, surrounded by dense jungle and towering trees—an unforgettable journey to Inotawa Lodge in the heart of the Amazon.
Day 3

Rise early to walk through the treks one last time before making your way back to Puerto Maldonado airport. After the 2.30-hour journey, arrive at the airport to board a flight back to Cuzco or Lima, or continue to your next destination in South America.
