Sacred Valley tours explore the fertile valley between Cusco and Machu Picchu, one of the most historically significant regions of Peru. Framed by dramatic Andean landscapes, the Sacred Valley is known for its impressive Inca ruins, traditional villages, and enduring cultural traditions that date back centuries.
While it’s possible to visit the Sacred Valley on a day trip from Cusco, we recommend spending at least one night — and ideally two or more — to fully experience the region’s archaeological sites, markets, and scenic beauty. Sacred Valley tours often include destinations such as Ollantaytambo and Pisac, and are frequently combined with Cusco and Machu Picchu as part of a broader Peru tours itinerary. Every Sacred Valley journey we design is fully customizable to match your interests, pace, and travel style.

Yes, the Sacred Valley is well worth visiting and is often considered an essential part of a trip to Peru. Located at a lower altitude than Cusco, it is an ideal place to acclimatize while exploring impressive Inca ruins, traditional villages, and local markets. Many travelers combine the Sacred Valley with Cusco and Machu Picchu for a well-rounded itinerary.
The Sacred Valley begins approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Cusco. Key towns such as Urubamba and Ollantaytambo are about 5060 kilometers (3037 miles) away, with travel times typically ranging from one to one and a half hours by road, depending on traffic and route.
The Sacred Valley experiences warm days and cooler evenings. We recommend light, breathable clothing for daytime, a sun hat and sunglasses, a warm jacket for evenings, and comfortable walking shoes for visiting ruins and markets. If traveling between November and April, a lightweight waterproof jacket is also advisable.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas lies in the Peruvian Andes between Cusco and Machu Picchu, following the course of the Urubamba River. Most travelers reach the Sacred Valley from Cusco and continue onward by road or train toward Machu Picchu.
