Peru train tours offer a scenic and comfortable way to experience some of the country’s most dramatic landscapes, from the Sacred Valley to the high Andes. Travel by rail from Cusco to Machu Picchu, journey south toward Lake Titicaca, or explore lesser-known rail routes that cross remote mountain regions and historic towns.
Peru is home to some of South America’s most breathtaking passenger railways, many of which remain active today. The iconic train journey from Cusco through the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu is among the most popular, with options ranging from comfortable scenic service to the luxurious Hiram Bingham train. Another celebrated route connects Cusco with Lake Titicaca, offering a full day of Andean scenery, snow-capped peaks, and sweeping valleys.
Additional rail experiences include the journey from Lima into the Andean highlands toward Huancayo, known for its dramatic elevation changes, tunnels, and bridges. From Huancayo, travelers can continue to Huancavelica on the historic Tren Macho line. For private groups or special itineraries, chartered trains can also be arranged on select routes, including lines that are not currently part of regular passenger service.
