Ushuaia boasts the claim-to-fame of being the world’s southernmost city. Typically, Ushuaia tours are included on an Argentina trip and feature a visit to the scenic harbor and a few museums, a train ride through the Tierra del Fuego National Park, and a cruise along the Beagle Channel to Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. Board on The End of the World Train, that once linked the prison camp with the forestry camp, to discover more of this beautiful region from a steam train. Stay at Estancia Harberton, one of the oldest ranches of Tierra del Fuego, and take a boat to Martillo Island to observe a colony of nesting Penguins. Ushuaia is also the port city for cruises around Patagonia between Buenos Aires and Santiago, and also is the jumping-off point for Antarctica tours.
It’s easy to spend a couple of days enjoying activities and scenery around Ushuaia, or you could extend your trip by also visiting the Lapataia Bay, Laguna Verde, Roca Lake, and go on a whale-watching cruise. You could also spend extra time in the Tierra del Fuego National Park, where you can roam among the stunted, windswept Magellanic forests, looking for birds and wildlife.
