Salar de Uyuni Tours
Uyuni Salt Flat tours are arguably the most popular thing to do on a tour of Bolivia. The Uyuni salt flats stretch over a span of 10,582 square kilometers (4,086 sq mi) in southern Bolivia. They are the world’s largest salt flats with plenty of wildlife. The Salar hosts prehistoric lakes and plants, flamingoes, culpeos (Andean foxes), and vizcacha (rabbits). While on one of our Uyuni Salt Flats tours, you can go on a 4×4 off-road vehicle adventure, where your driver will show you the immense salt flats and some of the surrounding shrubbery, wildlife, lagoons, and hills. You can also have some fun taking “perspective” shots with your camera. At night, stay at the Hotel de Sal, a hotel made completely out of salt! Other excursions include visiting a salt factory, walking around Incahuasi Island covered in cacti, exploring a train cemetery, and seeing the volcanoes. Combine our Uyuni tours with an Atacama Desert trip to enjoy beautiful arid landscapes from Bolivia and Chile. All our Uyuni salt flat tours are customizable!

How to Get to Salar de Uyuni
One option on how to get to Uyuni is an overnight train. The overnight train from La Quiaca (the border of Argentina & Bolivia) to Uyuni is comfortable and of good quality. It may not have been luxurious, but it was very comfortable. With blankets available, travelers drift to sleep during the ride. When the train came to a stop, transfer to a hotel in Uyuni.
Things to do in Salar de Uyuni
Visit the Blue & Red Lagoons
Visit the famous lagoons. When people think of Uyuni, they only think of the Salt Flats. However, there is so much more to see! At the end of your Uyuni Salt Flats tour, transfer to the lagoons nearby. The lagoons are so colorful, with deep blue and red colors. The blue is just as vibrant as the red and makes for a great experience.
Visit Rock Formations & Green Lagoon
Enjoy an excursion to the incredible site – El Arbol de Piedra (the Stone Tree). This is a rock formation that has been so worn down over the decades that it looks like a tree. From there, transfer to the “Dali Desert” because of its uncanny resemblance to Salvador Dali’s paintings. Finally, arrive at the most amazing of all the lagoons – the green lagoon. Triumphing over the red and blue lagoon, the color of the green lagoon was so beautiful. You must see for yourself!!
