Patagonia adventure tours are designed for travelers who want to actively explore one of the wildest regions in the world. Spanning southern Argentina and Chile, Patagonia offers unmatched opportunities for hiking, glacier exploration, and outdoor adventure set against dramatic mountain and lake landscapes.
Adventure itineraries in Patagonia often include hiking in Torres del Paine National Park, trekking near Mount Fitz Roy in El Chaltén, and ice trekking on the Perito Moreno Glacier. Beyond trekking, travelers can kayak in the Lake District near Puerto Varas, sail through Patagonian fjords, or explore remote wilderness areas by boat and on foot. Many journeys combine highlights across both countries, creating immersive adventure experiences throughout Patagonia.

In certain areas, yes. For example, El Chalten offers well-marked trails that experienced hikers can explore independently. However, in more remote regions and national parks, we strongly recommend hiking with a guide for safety, navigation, and a deeper understanding of the landscapes and wildlife.
The main adventure season in Patagonia runs from September to April. Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to April) are especially popular, offering fewer crowds and excellent conditions for trekking. Winter months from May to August are generally too cold for most hiking, and many campsites and mountain refuges close during this time.
El Calafate is best known for the Perito Moreno Glacier, where visitors can kayak in front of the ice face or take guided ice trekking excursions using crampons. Other activities include horseback riding on traditional estancias and off-road 44 excursions. Nearby El Chalten offers some of Patagonias most iconic hiking trails.
Ushuaia offers a wide range of adventure experiences, including trekking on the Ojo del Albino Glacier, canoeing in Tierra del Fuego National Park, and visiting penguin colonies on Martillo Island. Additional activities include crab fishing excursions and guided 44 tours into the surrounding wilderness.
